  • 3/4 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted & divided
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons dark cocoa powder
  • Mini chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and grease an 8×8 pan.
  2. In a bowl, mix brown sugar, granulated sugar, and cinnamon.
  3. In another bowl, combine flour, sugars, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and mini chocolate chips. Add buttermilk and 2 tablespoons melted butter to form dough.
  4. Knead the dough until smooth on a floured surface. Shape it into a rectangle.
  5. Spread remaining melted butter over the dough and sprinkle with the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
  6. Roll up tightly into a log and slice into nine pieces.
  7. Place in the prepared pan; drizzle with leftover butter and bake for 20-22 minutes until golden brown.
  8. For frosting: blend cream cheese with powdered sugar and cocoa until smooth. Frost cooled rolls before serving.
