  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 large onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup shredded Gruyère or Swiss cheese

  1. In a bowl, mix together ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan, egg, garlic, onion powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper until combined.
  2. Roll into golf ball-sized meatballs and arrange on a baking sheet.
  3. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat; brown the meatballs on all sides (about 5-7 minutes). Remove and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, melt butter and add sliced onions with sugar; cook until caramelized (10-15 minutes).
  5. Stir in flour and gradually add beef broth; bring to a simmer.
  6. Return meatballs to skillet; cover and simmer for 15 minutes.
